Local speed camera campaign
It's sometime quite irksome; everywhere you look it's; don't do this, don't do that, don't do that either. £100 fine for this, £1,000 fine for that, £1,000 fine for thinking that about the previous notice...
It's easy to see how empires rise & then decline into anarchy - every time.
I bet the current state crooks will all act with innocent surprise when it happens to them.

A local village has volunteer speed camera operators on the job, so a local wag has released a protest? song, see below

So no power whatsoever then?

Not points wise, no. If you kept tearing past them at warp speed they may get a 'real' officer to use the Laser one day .... or you could get a S.59 warning re your driving ... but that's about it.

So is there a formal agreement with trained laser/radar operators and the local forces then John?
Presumably in order for an officer who was not present to issue a S59 notice there must be?
Steve
But nothing would surprise me around that particular piece of poorly worded and inappropriately implemented legislation.
Steve, I have no idea ... I am just guessing that the issue could arise ... S.59 is not something I have ever used ... nor I expect ever will - just something I am aware of.
My understanding is that a report from anyone re 'bad/poor driving' (within the definition in S.59) could lead to a warning being issued ... but 'could' is a lot different that 'would' ... or at least one would like to think !
I know at least one member of this forum who has been 'warned' re S.59 ... but other than that I don't think it is used as much as people on forums believe - that said I don't deal with that side of things so may be talking out of my ****

One wonders, if it had been a convoy of vintage Bentleys, would his view have been different, and what effect allowing people like this to supply information which can potentially result in someone's car being crushed has on people's perception of the police and law enforcement in general.
