Actually, the last time I saw an Evora on the road, it was being overtaken by an 86...

Knowledge > Power

Or maybe not in this case Nick
I was keeping to the 4K running-in limit, so f cuked if I know which, missus!

Nothing but positive comments. Good. But it's always that way when it's someone else's money

Still, I'll be back on Fri or Sat with the verdict of the test drive. If the standard Evora isn't quick enough, I don't think I can stretch to the S.

Imo the standard one was a better drive than the S, and plenty enough poke. It really did pull well.

Yeah - I think the diesel/two-star version now gets the additional caster from the S too; that was my main criticism of the handling was that winding off the lock to catch the tail seemed too heavy.

Depends what you mean by spending other people's money - I'm not a polyingticiunt! I think that the whistling past of Evora prices means that they are becoming rather spectacular value. You can get a real junior supercar for almost the price of a new VAG hatchbox that many inexplicably pull their plonkers over...

Test driven.

Awesome car. Just awesome. So close to the spirit of the S2000.

As I suspected, I crave more power, but I think for the sake of my licence, 280hp will do. Given that it it's bright yellow, I'm thinking obvious target for mph-nazis.

Big jump in torque helps. I hit the rev limiter on the test drive a couple of times -clearly not meant to be driven like an S2000/ M3.

Definitely have to accept the compromises -rear "seats", laughable sat nav/ stereo, lack of luggage space (yes, even compared to the S2000)- but the trade off is similar running costs for clearly a much more premium car.

I'm going back tomorrow with the Decision Maker. If she likes... well, watch this space.

It will be sad to say goodbye :-(

Glad you liked it

The handling and feel of the car on hard cornering is difficult to describe, but it just glides.

Always get the colour you want, but bear in mid resale when you negotiate the price.
