Thanks for the link, SC - I really enjoyed reading that.
There is a lot to be said for a design that has been in continual development for over 50 years. Except only the V8 layour and displacements are common.
A lot of the recent detail changes are the sort of stuff the Japanese have been doing for years - bosses on bolts so you don't squish your composite intake manifold out of shape, for example.
But anyone dismissing it merely because of its pushrods is missing the point.
As are all the unfortunates who can only judge a car by what it 'looks like'...
