It's got twice as many cylinders as most engines and it's BIG.

That's all you need to know.

Thanks for the link, SC - I really enjoyed reading that.

There is a lot to be said for a design that has been in continual development for over 50 years. Except only the V8 layour and displacements are common.

A lot of the recent detail changes are the sort of stuff the Japanese have been doing for years - bosses on bolts so you don't squish your composite intake manifold out of shape, for example.

But anyone dismissing it merely because of its pushrods is missing the point.

As are all the unfortunates who can only judge a car by what it 'looks like'...

Common misconception; V8 blocks are truly compact compared to a four and VTEC heads are colossally heavy & bulky compared to those tiny pushrod ones. Weighs little more than an F20c!

I meant the CC, not the external dimensions

That's a great looking engine...very compact indeed, even with all of the ancillaries.

The exhaust manifolds don't look too efficient though

the plastic engine cover makes it look taller as well.

the real top of the engine is just above the air intake thingy.

plenty of room for a supercharger.

Still never understood why it doesn't develop much power for a 6.2l engine?
