Luxo Barge
Just pondering, reqs would be
Leather
passat or larger size
comfy ride
good sound system
Climate
reiable
decent steed (i'd prefer 4 or rwd)
budget i dont know.. £10k?
I dont like jags
If i could get something which rode very well i'd be tempted but i think reliable rules out citroen/renno

If you put 18s on your current luxo barge to make the ride comfy you'd be there.
At twice the budget tho
Seriously why take the risks of a new flame? The throttle actuator is an easy job for any local machine shop with gear making capabilities then you have reliable. Definitely. Maybe ...

yeah the M3 ride is a bit harsh Rog, Nina has a bad back.
You're right in that from my list it ticks it all bar comfort and mine is in great nick for what is now an 8 year old car. The actuators dont worry me, they will be replaced by 40k whether there's been an issue or not if i keep it.

My old man has just picked up a V70 D5 for half your budget... a 2008 facelift car.
Ok, perhaps not a true lxo barge, but for a comfortable 'wafter' it's great.
It is rather agricultural in the engine compartment however...
I am tempted as a dog wagon, can get a the 7 seat config also.. if that's your thing.

Get a Legend - on the 17" wheels.
Handles nicely on the 18", but the bump-thump is as shit as a German car at low speeds and they get a bit floaty when pushing on down a pitchy back road like it's an S2000.
But I'm told the ride quality is otherwise very good by modern (German shit) standards, though it's no Jaguar, let alone Citroen. But then neither is one of those Talbot things they now pass off.
The sound system is Bose, but you cannot have everything for well under ten bag...
And of course, all the millions of FREDs (it was very advanced way back when) tend to work, unlike firework-boxes they put in Jags and the ugly cars from central Europe.
