going luxo for 1K is dangerous territory. The economy of repair becomes a bit daunting. For example how would you feel at

I don't have any experience of the 7 series, but I agree with C7BLE on the problems of running a posh beater.

A friend of mine thought it would be a jolly wheeze to run a bargain-basement XJS alongside his BMW M3.

He picked it up for just over

Hmm, I would agree with these comments, AE. Sevens are lovely cars but when they go wrong it's usually big bills. You can avoid the auto box malarkey by changing the gearbox oil every 30,000 miles or so
