No sadly, Joper, that was about two years ago coming out of Bath (the A46 climbing north out of the city, for reasons best known to the HA/council, it's a frigging 50mph limit!!!), and the shame of driving an Avensis and being done for doing 65mph in a 50 in one was too much to bear. They took one pic from where they caught me (the car is a speck) and then one as I passed, by which time I was mouthing obscenities at them. Well, driving an Avensis puts you in a bad mood anyway...

Funnily enough, they were parked on the other side of a road in the entrance to an escape lane for HGVs on the downhill carriageway, and on double yellows. Found out too late that I could've appealed that one...
The Avensis is an *awful* car isn't it!

Tell me about it - it was a T3-S with the coarse 1.8 engine, in a dreadful metallic bronze colour. Absolutely gutless with the most hideous plastics inside, and it did nothing well... so I was somewhat amazed to find that on a steep hill out of Bath I'd managed to break the speed limit in it and get done!

That was when I worked in Gloucester, just before my company was bought out by those shits at Future Publishing. We used to get all manner of strange hire cars at my Gloucester firm, I've driven Rover 75s, Carisma DI-Ds (Jesus, they were bad...), a Megane II dCi 1.5 (worst gearbox EVER), some Laguna diesels and some Passat 1.8Ts (they were my favourites, pretty quick for what it was)...

But by far the worst was when I was given a granddad gold Nissan Almera 1.5S. I had a stinking cold, I had to go and do a feature on an airfield outside London on a beautiful (as it happens) gold rebuilt 1973 BMW 3.0CSi, and then I had to drive down the A303 to Exeter. I tell you, what with my cold, hideous M25 traffic, the freezing weather, the jibes of the BMW owner and the photographer I was working with ringing in my ears, and the sheer hideousity (my word!) of this Almera, the drive along the A303 was... somewhat angry! It only had 300 miles on the clock but I redlined that POS everywhere, I hated it so much!

Heh, Sarah gets hire cars for her job and the other day she had to leave the M3 at home and drive to Cornwall and back in a day in a Focus C-Max TDCi. She said it was one of the worst cars she's ever driven!

Really.. I thought i got done there a while ago.. (parked on the other side) but I figured that they couldn;t see the number plate thru the center barriers..

This was like 5+ months ago now.. phew.. as you 'could' easily hit 100 before the bridge on the way up the hill off the roundabout if so inclined..

I always fly up there to miss the main traffic. and pop down into larkhall etc..
