Havas swapped his '51 S in for a lovely '52 SMG M3 cab with all the toys (baby arrival imminent was he main reason). It is a lovely example and I think cost him well under 10k to change.

Not a bad idea if you want something a bit more grown up than an S.

Not sure on Rislars interior issues? The interior is good, not that exciting but very logical - I can think of much worse. It fits with the car - sporty, but remaining understated.

As for the arse? I guess you mean common, you do see a few, no doubt but its not as bad as boxster - mine still turns heads daily.

Rislar's far politer than I! Round here, Audis are like clitorises...

And the interiors on some up tasteless boulevard.

The council house M3's bankrupted many, but if you go into ownership properly, a car worth having.

Coupe though; I distrust guillotined saloons.

A BMW used to be trumpeted as an 'aspirational purchase'. The sort of product that provided motivation to be a success & then be able to advertise the fact.
The reality is that with perhaps the exception of the 5 Series, BMW ownership & that of Porsche to some extent, has become stigmatised.

1 Series are for badge snobs who wouldn't be seen dead in a Focus - a car that does the same job at half the price.
3 Series for salesman who have delusions of importance.
5 Series a credable executive express.
6/7 Series - bloated barges.
X Series - yummie mummies.
M versions - WAGS, drug dealers and publicans.
Cabriolets for poseurs, tarts & tossers, and again middle aged mummies trying to look like their teenage daughters
Too many versions, too many Series, generally too common. Something for everybody at all levels of status and social standing from Council estates to Country homes.
The new Peoples car.

All respect for their engineering, but that's about it.

Audi had better be careful they don't go down the same route.

Honda Accord, Lexus & increasingly SAAB are to my mind more individual and the choice of the 'thinking' motorist.

I think they're well on their way down that route.

Bland and commonplace - I really can't see the attraction of them.

I liked Clarkson's comment "A cement salesman's car"

I've got a test drive booked in a 2003 M3 Coupe this coming saturday. So I need to learn as much as I possibly can about them before then. If I get it, it'll come with a 1 year BMW warranty.

It's steel grey with grey leather interior. I'm not keen on the grey leather at all, I'd much rather black leather, but from a re-sale perspective, would grey or black be better?
