M3 Cab
I like grey leather - quite rare - mine is black but I would have gone for grey if I could to be different.
A warranty is a bonus, will also help you resell it. Grey is a good colour for the car - my boss has grey with red on his cab. I like it
Easy to look after too.
Things to check
First service was done when it should be - VERY IMPORTANT.
All other services up to speed.
How many miles has it done? If its coming up to 30-40K its going to need brakes soon - I mean disks.
Tyres - how much tread is left.
Check panel gaps, paint etc. If they dont all match, have too much gloss on joins etc etc then think twice.
Check interior and door cards - rear ones too + drives bolster nearest the door. For some reason there seem to be some grotty interiors about - walk away from those.
Check the wheels(I assume its on 19s?) they are a pig to refurb - basically youll need all 4 doing to get a really good match. If there is much white on them then water has got under the laquer.
PM me if you have more questions.
Oh and from cold, expect it to be like a bag of nails for a few minutes - they just are!
Also - rear diff. From cold get the steering on full lock and turn round in a complete circle. Any loud rubbing noise at the rear will be the diff - can be fixed with oil change, or a new diff!

Thats why you find Andy 'just popping in' to the BMW dealer on the last day of every month!!
Saw one t'other day; reg. basically read GRRR! That was funny too.

However, I think that M is still a desirable brand
You can get things to match it or beat it performance wise - if you tweak them, but they will hardly be what most describe as a motor with some class. Or you could get an AMG Merc, which is faster in a straight line, but not as much fun to drive elsewhere. RS6 Audis are silly money and no faster. All depends what you want really.
There is NO competition from the likes of Saab, Honda, etc. The Legend is a cruiser and big Saabs are pretty dire unless you are into towing a caravan.
I think things are probably similar when comparing the M3 to offerings from other makers.
I think the subordinate models in BMW's range are OK, but they don't interest me. I sort of agree with BB' sentiments, but we all have to accept that for some people, a 320D is the pinnacle of their motoring achievement, and they move in circles where it is recognised as an achievement. Fortunately, I don't.
I'd agree; at least the car has 50/50 mass distribution, etc etc.
Even when the next Legend arrives, it may have brilliant SH-AWD and a V8, but the tendency to wince or duck one's head whilst saying 'Acura' might be too much.
Regarding the 3er's carpet-crawler image, Oldsmobile once made an equivalent car called the Achieva. Honestly. Oldsmobile no longer exists, unsurprisingly.
