Why do the ADD veerers always hold the phone at the window side of the car? so they can see you less well as they carve you up? Are they saying "buttf uck me please, Officer?" Are they so sad & lonely, they're pretending someone's calling? Do we really care, so long as they're off the rOads for ever!

This is all hot air unfortunately
They've said this before and not suceeded in improving it.
So far I've done ~2500 miles since they announced this "crack down".
The only "sign" I've seen of it is warnings posted on every gantry sign on every motorway!
Problem is the muppets are to busy on the phone to read them and take any notice!
This is a real personal hate of mine. I do ~40k miles a year and use my phone in the car with a blue tooth headset ALL the time. (yes those hands free kits are NFU! ) There is no excuse and it is ####ing dangerous. Especially those numpty lorry drivers steering with the elbows, phone in one hand pen in the other!

Saw a policecar the other day yesterday, driver holding the radio in his hind while driving.
Isn't that just as bad? Especially when there's a passenger.
Phoning while driving is absolutely one of my driving hates - nearly got flatteded by a transit as I was waiting to pull out of a side street. He was on the phone so couldn't turn the van sharp enough. Muppet.
Just don't get me started on fog lights WHEN IT'S NOT FE**IN' FOGGY.
AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

There was talk about this on the radio this morning.
One guy was complaining that he was stopped for no reason because the cop thought that the lighter, he'd just used to light his fag, was a phone.
I'm all for it. However. They also said this morning that they may be entitled to prosecute people with hands-free kits as well.
This I don't agree with.
You can only do this if you also ban conversations with passengers in the car as well.

They have always had the power to prosecute.
And if the police feel that, in an individual circumstance, the use of a hands free meant you were driving w/out due care fair enough.
Funny how you always know the person in front is on a mobile.
As has been said many times, the law is only as good as it is enforceable.
