I don't take what he said as gospel, but I've always been mostly negative about modifying, and unless buying a track car, would only buy an unmolested example. most people are idiots and don't know what they are doing. There are exceptions to this, but as a general rule it works.

By his own admission he's as far away from an engineer as its possible to get.
