The people inside look happy, sorry, Joyful, because they don't have to look at it

I must admit, when I saw that this morning, I HAD to send a note to my 1-series driving friend

"Your car just got a tiny bit less ugly"

It's AWFUL.

I'd buy a C30 or an A3 if I was desperate for a "premium" hatch.

I'd buy a 3-series if I was desperate a bmw.

I like the impression of the lean-forward boat nose of the old -02er! The fashionable triangular headlights really help there, but the sculpting is clever.

Actually, the car looks like a far better-proportioned (for once, a big jump in size seems to serve a good purpose) tribute to the -02 than the hopelessly-contrived 1st attempt. It really is an -02 hatchback (especially the flanks) and all the better for it.

No need for brown paper bags any more!

Its certainly not the most attractive car in the world, but with its low emissions and consequently low tax rates its going to do well.

No doubt they will walk out of the showrooms as most BMW's do these days.

However with regards to the styling, for me what makes it an "uggo" is the BMW branded front end, which in turn effects the design of the rest of the car. And those rear lights were stolen from the VW parts bin.

That is seriously FUGLY! I'd go for an Audi A1 over that even though the A1 is probably smaller.

Probably better in the flesh than the current 1 series - but that says very little

The back looks like a VW Polo ... the front, well, just odd ... I will stick with my 3 series coupe
