Default New Addition to Garage

I mentioned a while ago about bringing my old Capri back to life. It was mine from new in 1981 when I was 20 and then sold to my mum when I bought an XR3i. Since 1998 its been in storage in her garage. It will now be my son's as his 1.1 Fiesta is no more due to 5 MOT failures - he will have to pay for insurance though -

Your family have really looked after it and your lucky son's mates are going to be jealous because Capris are now quite a rare and it has that retro coolness that you can't buy off the shelf.

I had two Mk3s'.

I still hanker after a tidy Brooklands.

Very nice

My brother used to build and race them so I've always had a soft spot.

For me it'd have to be a black 2.8i Special with a few suspension tweaks.

Capris just remind me of council estates.

In fact all fast Fords of my generation do.

The Burberry caps of their day.

Something different though so for that.

Thanks for the comments, I too always wanted a 2.8i or Brooklands, but things like buying houses and FWD hot hatches seemed to have got in the way.

Agree - they are a new "cool" and have come out of the shadows in very recent years. 3 years ago my mum was offered

Future phases are really getting on the road legally. Very stinky at the moment, which I hope is just residue of old petrol - but maybe valve stems but with the mileage I can't see that. Could also be the carb needing a good clean.

Tyres are at least 12 years old and although they have full tread they should really be changed for safety.

Then maybe suspension but we'll see what the MOT man brings.
