Default New car required

Well then even though i sold my s2k a good couple of years ago i have been a daily lurker on this website as you all seem to have a great knowledge of just about every car!

So i was hoping you could help me out on my next car choice as i need to downgrade (selling my 130i msport) due to a massive change in personal circs. Criteria is quick and no more than £5k and reasonable running costs and last me a good two years whilst i get myself sorted with yet another new house (should really have learnt my lesson!), i have narrowed it down to a few below!

Golf 2.8 4motion
st220
530i msport (gonna be high miler around a 2000/2001 plate... strange choice i know just like them!)
wrx (abit chav so near bottom of list, but reliable and quick)

Do you guys have any important info about any of the above, or have any other ideas. I have seen a few local to me so going to try and test drive them if the weather picks up!

Cheers

Darlo

Mod comment: Chaps, bear in mind that guests aren't allowed to sell here so please no further discussion of the 130i. Thanks

ive never owned a car with more than 65k on the clock so i am abit worried about buying something with 95k, but done alot of reading up and asking around and the engine is supposed to be bomb proof...! just the other bits and bobs that will need replacing, suspension etc. Hopefully the weather will clear up and i can go and view the 530i ive seen in chester

I have the 2.5l 6 in a 523. Bought the car over 6 years ago when it had 35k on the clock. Now it's at 102k. Ist car I have owned that had gone ofver the 100k mark. But teh engine is just as smooth and sweet as the day I bought it. Fab car!

I was tracking my ITR at 110k.....it loved it....honestly!

Mileage would be of little concern to me in a 6 pot BMW. As you say suspension etc is the biggest fear, I had all front arms and Wishbones replaced at 180k...think they were original. other than that nothing more than consumables.

well i have put a deposit on the 530i i went to see in Chester. Owned by a genuine enthusiast and spared no expense keeping it in excellent condition, came in under budget which is nice. Got everything i wanted except the heated seats but i can live without them.
