New Civic
What do people think of new civic - I wanted to like it - but I am thinking all it really shows is that Honda are in decline in terms of their automotive abilities at least

Bit more info here - looks a decent refresh on the current theme.

The NSX is back (again) apparently: http://www.autocar.c...AllCars/259138/
There is perhaps hope for some sportiness in future, Honda president and CEO Takanobu Ito:
“Our recent efforts have been focused on fuel efficiency, and that perhaps gives the impression Honda is behind with pushing the brand image of sportiness, but let me assure you that is not the case,” said Ito. “We will address that impression with our new generations of cars.”

The sporting comments are positive but until we see proof won't be getting my hopes up.
I see a lot of styling touches borrowed from other manufacturers on the new Civic. Such as the line of the rear wheel arch similar to Peugeots very UGLY 308. The nose is similar to the Seat Ibiza and Renault Clio.
The nose is a Honda design; it appeared on that Hydrogen-bomb ME car a couple of years ago.
Evolution is the secret; not revolution.
At least they've got the hint of a driver-oriented SSM/S2000 cockpit and the plastics appear mostly to be the same shade of matt grey now. They've left off a lot of that horrible silver spray paint and managed to leave off a lot of the over-styling that makes just about every modern car interior a disgusting confused mess, like sitting in a junky den.
It's not perfect but it's a step in the right direction.
Still, there's no 3-door/CTR, no DW suspension, no K20 or better, it's still huge and the outside will only be slightly less invisible than in the the FK. So I shan't be rushing out to buy one.
That's not to say it won't be a brilliant car for the more normal user.
Not the radical redesign I was expecting, more a cosmetic makeover. Honda interiors really are woeful these days, cheap as chips plastics and god awful design.
I cant see my car purchasing future involving Honda for a LONG time to come.

Looks rubbish, just tweaking a few panels to make the front look more like the Inshite. Long gone are the days of trying to make the hum drum cars look like the halo vehicle in the range. Now they seem content with making everything appear like the green eco wagon at the bottom of the spectrum
I don't hold out much hope for the new "NSX" either. I would have thought Lexus' foray into the hypercar market with the LFA, would have shown Honda that without the right badge on the front, people with that kind of cash to spare just aren't interested.
The new Honda Civic is the Joseph Merrick of automotive styling. That one of the main promo' images highlights the day-time running lights gives a clue to the 'innovation' it embodies...
I long for the purity of design that this '80's Civic possesses; one of Honda's best looking cars ever IMHO - even if it was designed by Pininfarina.
