Kinda too late ... I already told them to do it when I was half asleep.

I just went down to have "words" with them (Can't pick the car up till later as I was on the bike).
After looking at the discs they are indeed very warn but hardly what I would call "dangerous" got a few thousand miles left on them imo.
I was told that the pads are being made out of a different (tougher) material these days and it's having an effect on the life of the discs. (Which are obviously being made out of cheese)
I did notice very obvious flecks of metal in the pads, which I don't remember seeing in pads before.

As others have said a favourite scam in the motor trade. Also considering motor sales are through the floor at the moment dealers will be leaning on service to make up the numbers. Expect to see more of this going on

Are you sure they were your disks and pads? They could just have been some they leave lying around for this sort of eventuality... or am I being too cynical?

Dealerships are no better than estate agents or ambulance chasers.

I've had a lot of bs thrown at me in the past 3 weeks from a couple of dealer marques - apparently they are short on stock and items on auto trader have been sold just that morning when i phone up.

Good for test drives though if you wear earplugs.

I also had 2-3 Honda dealers try the disc trick. Also had the same Ford garage try it twice.

A mechanic friend of the family was talking to me about Honda Civic discs a while back. They have started to use cheaper quality parts apparently-said he has seen some last 10k miles.

The only discs I've ever replaced are the ones on the Caterham, and that was because of some surface crazing and at

even on the M5 (road use only) I would expect the discs to last 40K miles minimum

I could understand aftermarket parts failing early, but not oem Honda
