Default New job!

Eyup all!

After four years on the magazine, I am leaving my current role as editor of TBMW to go and take on the fresh challenge of editor at Performance Tuner. It's a new magazine, I've mentioned it briefly before as I freelanced for it for the first two issues. The great thing is, because this is a multimarque performance title (only fast cars for me from now on, ), I can now mention my S in the copy! Ha ha! YES! And it'll also be on the mag's stand at the Castle Combe action day on April 21.

I'm looking forward to settling some pub/forum car debates! All ideas gratefully received!

Cheers

Matt

I for one am looking for;

Proof that the Ibiza Tdi will out drag a 911 GT2 from 50-70.

The car I bought after the S2000 is the best, please validate my purchase.

S2000s aren't as quick as [insert mundane hot hatch here] in 'real world' situations.

Pound for pound, the [insert warmed up shopping car here] beats the [insert sports car here] hands down, and would probably keep up in the twisties.

Congrats on the new job Matt

How was the trip back from Valencia in the cab, and how was the 1 series?

Sponsor an S2000 owner (that'll be me) to pimp their ride (I'll let you put the magazine name on - if it's small )

Ha ha! Thanks all! Vixen and MarkB; I'll take those on board, I like the idea of promoting the mag on an S2K and also some of these debates, especially the Ibiza/GT2 one!

BB - sadly, there may be a few diesels. But not many. Not on my watch!

Blurter - 335i Convertible was a bloody stunner, the roof is a piece of genius and it sounds fabulous. Sadly, my 120d M Sport never arrived... the facelifter is due any moment so BMW has phased all the old ones off its fleet, and the 120d I was due to have is the only one on the fleet at the moment...

And it had a MASSIVE oil leak just prior to delivery, for which the parts to fix it were not available! A sad end to life with BMW!

However, it neatly bookends my time on the mag, as the first car I drove was a red E46 330Ci Convertible facelift model and I ended with the new version (335i SE in Space Grey, nicely!). From Three soft-top to Three, er, Hard-Top!

But I'm looking forward to being biased towards the S2000 in road tests! Ha ha ha!

Congratulations on the new position!

Does it mean you HAVE to cover the S2000 in aftermarket tat?

I might even buy a copy. I'll have to buy a Burberry baseball cap first though

No, not at all. It's not like Max Power/Redline/Fast Car (even though I know MP has had a major relaunch to get rid of tit & arse). It's trying to be a baby Evo (without the ego!), it's all about trackday performance, mechanical modding, fast road cars etc etc. It's an everyman mag as well - there's a nominal
