I am very average But it's so easy in the S2000 it's not a matter of ability, I just don't think it's needed all the time. Struggled in the Lotus though!

I agree with your point Nick, that some cars are definately better as an auto. For example there's no way i'd go for one of the new M3's in anything but a flappy paddle, same with the GTR (although there's no option )

But oddly a Porsche it's the same theory as an NSX for me, it's just wrong.

Ferrari would be a tricky decision.

Odd.

I'd take an modern auto' or semi-auto' over a manual any day - especially a DSG-type thingamabob.

Much as the self-appointed driving-gods would protest, not even the best, non-bionic, driver I know can change gear in milliseconds... but I'm sure there'll be someone on here who'll suggest they can.

Modern auto's are more economical too - a win-win really.

I can change gear in milliseconds. Perhaps 500 - 1000 of them

I think the point is it's the pleasure of operating mechanical controls... rather than outright pace. But in some cars, the outright pace wins.

Odd.
Porsche is about the only German manufacturer that does excellent ergonomics, so I'd have to agree.

Ferraris are still fairly bad, but that's part of the appeal. Plus I cannot cope with the ineptitude & unreliability of the earlier setups. I like to make my own clutch stink through ineptitude, thanks.

360 or older would have to be manual, 430 onwards flappy box is sorted.

That Imola orange NSX is simply sexual, what a great looking car.

Buy one, whack a supercharger on it and bobs your uncle, although an NSX-R version would be fast enough .

NSX-R is reckoned to be pretty much undriveable on British roads. It may be likened to ricers ruining a good car!
