Default Nick Needs a Beater

I'm thinking Honda.

I'm thinking V6.

I'm think Legend!

Something like this.

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/c...00&max_mileage=

I know it's old man.

But does it fit the bill as a occasional motorway commuter and something that will fit Ollie + others?

And it does seem a lot of car for the money.

My heart sees the engine, the comfort and the Honda realiability.

But my head questions the actual running costs... and the piss taking!

They are as ugly as sin. I suspect most of the owners are too.

Nothing wrong with that

But it will probably not be worth fixing anything that goes wrong - and there is lots to go wrong on a car like that

Having a luxo-barge with bits not working kind of defeats the object....

But it's a Honda and you have a better chance of it staying in one piece than you do with a German equivalent

BIG downside with the Legend would be finding secondhand parts - it's a rare car

That's why Jags can make good beaters; they make so many and secondhand parts are plentiful and cheap

I'm clueless here....

... but surely the parts are shared with other Honda's?

Or am I being completey nieve?

And Gritty... I need an ugly car to make me look pretty.

naive certainly

I doubt there is much shared

it's not like a 5 series - loads of models

afaik there's just one Legend so there would be no sharing of body panels, seats, mirrors, trim etc

naive indeed (my fingers have a mind of their own!)

I'm not so worried about body panels and the like... more functioning parts that might wear out.

Surely a Lexus LS400 would make more sense? Similar size etc and style, lots more around than the Leg Ends..! Spending

Every Elise needs a 'beater'. Makes it more special.

Russ.
