Default Nissan 370Z

Nissan UK kindly sent me a 370Z to demo for 7 days. I was looking forward to it all week but was glad to hand it back today.

The plus points....

The engine is fantastic. Absolutely smooth and it shifts!

Really really comfy seats! Could drive all day in this car.

The not so plus points....

Thirsty! By God is it thirsty. We managed to get 30mpg out of it in automatic (yes they sent me an automatic roadster :sigh doing 72mph on the motorway. In a week we've put £190 in it.

The boot is only opened by pressing an exterior button under the Nissan badge and your hands get filthy. You can then only close it by pushing down on the outside of the boot, again getting your hands filthy and the boot lid is heavy! I know it's a small thing but going various places on Saturday and opening and shutting the boot, it got quite annoying.

Road noise! It is louder than my S with the top down on the concrete A180. It was unbearable after day 3.

Was completely uninvolved. Felt like I was driving a very comfortable arm chair around. Just point it forwards and off you go. It had the stupid flappy paddles which I just found completely gimmicky however enjoyed it more when using the tiptronic gear box.

Didn't feel anything through the steering wheel and the slightest bump in the road and off it went at a tangent.

So to summarise, nice if you want comfort, power, looks and a great engine but not so good if you want to feel involved in the drive.

Now a week in a Nissan Juke

WOW! It sounds fast!

I'm not a fan of it, would love to test drive the GTR - ask them for that next CJ!

I thought I would always go to this from the S but now I've driven it, that would be a firm No!

Keep trying to tap up Audi UK for an R8 but my contact ain't having none of it

Think that they have great road presence BoM.

Sort of pleased that you were underwhelmed.

Like to have these little insights. Can't look at the late shape MR2 and not think of a "fanny pad" thanks to dearly departed Bada.

Everyone that drove it (apart from the young Business Graduate) felt the same. Nice car but wouldn't have one.

Now if only someone would own up to scraping the NS wing!

I *might* be able to get hold of a contact that could help you

I don't think even an R8 would be as involving as the S though

Don't say that!!!!! I want to love the R8.

Now if you could get me a Vanquish as well that would be appreciated. Even I can't wangle that as a potential for the company car list

They don't make the Vanquish anymore.
Plus if the 30 mpg scared in the Datsun try half that from an Aston
R8 test would be good

I loved RichUK's 350Z when I took it out on track a few years ago, but it was a manual coupe.

Sideways everywhere, lovely controllable car with plenty of torque. Nearly bought one myself (nearly raced one too).

Don't fancy the drop top so much and no way I'd want an auto.
