Flappy paddles are great and definitely faster on DSG style box but I prefer the S2000 manual for sheer satisfaction.
I loved my Alfa ( with Tiptronic )
Gear change was quick - it was a lot of fun

However - I find it more "engaging" to be using a proper gearstick.

Helped slightly by the fact that all the cars you can buy in the UK are basically dull family boxes and aren't really all that impressive anyway. It seems that they've totally forgotten how to build a car that people actually desire . Then again that's probably that it's just me that doesn't like them as there's loads of them about.

There is also that!

Thing is, they used to make dull boxes that were actually great to drive and were the basis for excellent drivers' cars.

Now they seem to be concentrating on trying to beat BMW for the number of daft bodystyles one can build off a D/E segment platform.

4WS, A-VTEC, SH-AWD, DW suspension & delightfully consistent steering; they could do it, but CBA.

But then again, few manufacturers are any different these days.
