I'm torn between looking forward to seeing the photos, Philip, and being concerned that I will be very jealous! Enjoy yourself
You need to get your a** on your bike and get over to France/Switzerland/Italy/Spain as soon as you can.
Photos to follow but so far:
Col de la Bonnette
Col du Vars
Col de L'Allos
Col de Champs
Col de la Cayolle
Tomorrow (weather permitting):
Col de L'Izoard
Col de Agnel
Col de Sampeyre
Col de la Maddelena
Hard work at times but so far so good

Well we rode up the L'Izoard today and Col Agnel. The sign at the bottom of the latter said "Ferme" but the guidebook said ignore that - it will be open. Well it was well and truly blocked with a bloody great lump of concrete. One of us edged around it and rode about 3 miles down the Italian side only to be met by a bunch of arm waving Italian workmen whereupon he decided discretion was the better part of valour and beat a retreat. So back down the Col Agnel and up and over the L'Izoard to Briancon where we headed for the Col du Lauteret and the Col de Galibier. Very nice indeed and I passed an Silverstone S heading down the pass.
Another good day except that the Aprilia decided to do something with - we think - its timing chain tensioner so that had to be nursed back to Briancon. Whether he'll make the start tomorrow for the ride up to Belfort remains to be seen.
