Sympathies - I've been banging on about it myself for a few years now.

Which is why I prefer thrashing little rice pudding de-skinners like the S2000 & NSX round the back lanes.

Good luck with the nuttermobile!
I think it's an age thing.

Can't remember the last time I took the car out just for the hell of it.

I have lost all interest in everyday high performance cars

can't really explain why

sort of happened overnight

but I have my classic 'investments'

and something wicked this way comes

(for high days and holidays)
The same thing happened to me and i can just about afford some nice cars now.

Dont know why but i still love cars, just not bothered about driving them.

it's the frustration. my bike is slightly better as it needs not much space to get passed traffic

but then you only find more traffic anyway

as Mr Graves alludes up there somewhere, the S is quick enough in our clogged up roads and most fun is found in not slowing for corners and gettings your Gs that way

I had one just like this

Very cheep so in1990 Igot one like this new, I just wanted one before the cats came in I had some cash spare so I modded it up twin SU's, racing manifold and exhaust, forced air etc. It got pretty scary overtaking everything! crap top speed but it was like karting on public roads. Did consider nitro at one point.
It eventuly went to my ex as part if the divoice (it scared the stuff out or her as well he he).

It's a Malthus thing. It's only an age thing in one respect:

I remember the days when I could drive my X1/9 up the A10 from Hertford to Cambridge on a Saturday @ 100mph for a lot of the journey. I cannot match those journey times in anything now.

I do drive for fun, but it tends to be a quick run round the block, avoiding towns, roadworks, poor people, scameras, potholes, etc...

BTW the branding wonks capitalised the brand name MINI to differentiate it from the model name Mini.

correct

my 'greatest drives' were in the early 1980's

major jams were rare then

they have become everyday in 25 years

now that I drive mostly on non-motorway/dc and often on rural roads

a large performance car is utterly pointless

if I was back on the motorways I'd be very happy with a luxobarge or the M5's current equivalent

I agree with Nick and Gad.

That said I believe Prodrive have chosen the MINI Countryman as its next WRC venture. So you are in good shoes Mr Gaddafi.

Might help with the residuals and/or image

That will be interesting; a MINI Maxi or a brand stretch too far?

I think the Prodrive WRC thing will help perception immensely.

Stop typing in HIGHER CASE.

you have a point with Malthus - especially south of Watford Gap.
