This gimmick is new to me, but worth a mention to anyone who hasn't seen it in operation...

Whilst parked-up in Waitrose's car park yesterday, a Passat CC stops to reverse into the parking spot in front of me. As the driver shifts the car into reverse and the reversing lights illuminate, the VW badge on the boot lid opens to reveal what I presume is a reversing camera.

Car reverses in to the parking bay (with, somewhat ironically, his lady friend having stepped out of the passenger seat to wave him in...) and as he shifts out of reverse and the reversing lights are extinguished, the VW badge closes shut.

Very cool.

 

And there was me thinking it was the most utterly pointless car on the planet!

That innovation makes it all worthwhile.

God, they must be bored shitless in Wolfsburg.
