Default Piece of american sh*t!

Well, you can tell me you told me so.....

After three short weeks and 800 miles of ownership, my Focus ST-3 is currently sitting in the dealership compound with a fractured cylinder head or blown head gasket.

Yesterday, the heating gave up the ghost, so I checked the coolant, only to find it was completely empty! I called the AA this morning, who tried to find the leak. I told them about some things that had happened yesterday, which turned out to be hydraulic lock and excessive steam from the exhaust and rough idling........a 'sniffer' test for carbon monoxide in the coolant tank proved that there was a crack somewhere in the coolant system in the engine block.......

I have just completed a letter which I will give to the dealership tomorrow, rejecting the car under the Sale of Goods Act.

Anybody got any experience of rejecting cars......???

Can you only do that on new cars?

Russ.

Yeah, I reject ones with Ford badges on too.

Bad luck mate. Have you checked to see if it's a common fault?

You can reject the car and it doesn't have to be new either.

They may counter offer you an effective repair . If the fault occurs within the first six months and you report it within this period then the onus is on the garage to fix it and you do not have to prove that the goods were faulty at the time of sale.

I'll try and find the relevant info for you.

Sorry to hear that - do you know if this is a fault others have seen on their STs?

Be prepared for the dealer/Ford to try convince you it's not their fault and you must have done something wrong etc. Stick to your guns and don't give in.

Good luck.

I think this will be a tricky battle but given that the car is so new (to you) it has failed to deliver. Good luck.
