Default poor Ashley Cole

104 mph in a 50 mph zone and he gets a £1000 fine and 4 month ban and.....wait for it....he asked for 21 days to pay

I was going to suggest a whip round to help out with the fine.

WTF was he not banned for a longtime, if it was you or I, we would be - over double the speed limit.

£1k, thought fines were proportional?

My thoughts exactly, I would expect a much longer ban for that.

I heard on the radio that he got a light punishment as he was "being chased by the paparazi".

"Oh no, they're taking my picture, I must endanger lots of peoples' lives and get away from them"

Fine is not enough.

10 years ago I was fined £150 for 104 mph, but mine was on a dual carriageway. My income / assets aren't worth anything like his.

"...he asked for 21 days to pay"

The last famous person who tried to "outrun" the paparazzi died in a Paris tunnel me thinks

I do think there is very much double standards in this country on certain legal issues when it comes to being famous.

Well, not sticking up for him, but if he earns £100,000 a week, he is paying £40,000 a week in tax so maybe we should be lenient

that still gives him £60k for this week.
What a dilema he still only has £59k left.
Ban should have been longer and the fine higher.
He got away lightly.

$290,000 speeding fine - which sets the new world record for the Highest speeding fine - after the motorist reportedly drove through a village in a candy red Ferrari Testarossa at 137 km/h, which was 57 km/h over the speed limit.

Not if he's got a half decent accountant, I'm sure
