That's some really useful firsthand info, thanks Squicker. After a LOT of reading (whilst recovering!), I think the Aston is falling out of favour. The driving experience and the cost to run seems off the mark of the others.

There have been one or two Evoras, Boxsters, Tamoras available at prices which MIGHT mean I could have them alongside the S2000, at least for a while, until I decide what to do with the S2000 (and Elise/Caterham are both options for that, too). I've found a local sports car dealer which has a few Porsches, plus an Aston and a Z3M. So I'll wander up there and have a closer look.

My head is recovering, so I'll reinstigate the hunt soon!

And I've already had the supercharged S2000 and that wasn't for me. It'll be normally aspirated, whatever I get.
The only GTR I would consider would be an R32. Given the age, it's not really about the performance anymore. There are plenty of easier vehicles to get that have way more performance. The R32 has always been my favorite body style and now that it's aged out of DOT import regulations, it's a little "easier". Finding a clean example that you can trust for an amount you can justify? Whole other problem.

Went to Donington Historic today. Didn't find anything for you really.

Some nice kit cars. There were a few GT4s which I confess I do like but they are big money.

A couple of Emiras. Some Exige(s)

My faves were basically a few old NSXs, those GT4s. Lots of silly Mustangs and stuff like that. I'll check out thoresby classic for you

Cheers Nottm!

Didn't realise I had a broker! Appreciate your hard work, sir!

Early NSX would be lovely, but about twice my budget sadly! Haven't seen an Emira in the flesh yet. I should pop over to the dealer at Cribbs Causeway. GT4 is probably too fast for my liking. A couple of seconds at full chat and it'd be licence losing territory!

The Emira looks nice but they are a £90k motor with 400bhp ish

The original GT4 is the same money so I suppose it's a fair pitch but feels a lot to me versus what you have and I agree on the speed front

NSX are lovely and if not £70k would be ideal

This guy didn't even wash it.. I did and I was out in the car park lol

I've reached the conclusion it's GT4 or Exige S3

So I'll organise a bank robbery for me and Chris and we can take our pick, one each

Obviously it might delay things by 5 years if we get caught

I cleaned it in Photoshop for him..

Yes photo bullshittery rather than skills, this guy didn't take Martin's advice.. the other one had brand new tyres and he hadn't even cleaned off the mounting soap stuff

they have enormous brakes for a c1400kg mid weight car plus are NA so they do have that appeal.. it might be too fast for Chris's requirement of being able to ring it's neck though.

Given I'm a bit more Guy Martin than Lewis Hamilton I might just stick with the rough as a badger's hoop SC S2 and keep the £65k from the bank job mind

Too much time watching Gold here
