That's some really useful firsthand info, thanks Squicker. After a LOT of reading (whilst recovering!), I think the Aston is falling out of favour. The driving experience and the cost to run seems off the mark of the others.
There have been one or two Evoras, Boxsters, Tamoras available at prices which MIGHT mean I could have them alongside the S2000, at least for a while, until I decide what to do with the S2000 (and Elise/Caterham are both options for that, too). I've found a local sports car dealer which has a few Porsches, plus an Aston and a Z3M. So I'll wander up there and have a closer look.
My head is recovering, so I'll reinstigate the hunt soon!
NSX would be lovely, but it's way over budget these days. GTR doesn't do it for me. I'm not after ultimate performance, more of a 'manual driving experience', at road speeds, which the GTR probably isn't. As per my previous posts, an Elise is an option in addition to the S, but it couldn't replace it due to long distance comfort and room for going away with the wife. And I've already had the supercharged S2000 and that wasn't for me. It'll be normally aspirated, whatever I get.
The only GTR I would consider would be an R32. Given the age, it's not really about the performance anymore. There are plenty of easier vehicles to get that have way more performance. The R32 has always been my favorite body style and now that it's aged out of DOT import regulations, it's a little "easier". Finding a clean example that you can trust for an amount you can justify? Whole other problem.
Cheers Nottm!
Didn't realise I had a broker! Appreciate your hard work, sir!
Early NSX would be lovely, but about twice my budget sadly! Haven't seen an Emira in the flesh yet. I should pop over to the dealer at Cribbs Causeway. GT4 is probably too fast for my liking. A couple of seconds at full chat and it'd be licence losing territory!
Yes photo bullshittery rather than skills, this guy didn't take Martin's advice.. the other one had brand new tyres and he hadn't even cleaned off the mounting soap stuff
they have enormous brakes for a c1400kg mid weight car plus are NA so they do have that appeal.. it might be too fast for Chris's requirement of being able to ring it's neck though.
Given I'm a bit more Guy Martin than Lewis Hamilton I might just stick with the rough as a badger's hoop SC S2 and keep the £65k from the bank job mind
