Really like that colour ... on the OUTSIDE. The inside is just a bit too close to vomit - that's the problem, the bit you see the most of is the least attractive ..... maybe it'd grow on you over time.
I once sat in the passenger seat in a coxster - there is no room for my legs and knees, and I am not that tall at 6.1. Also the length of the cabin made it impossible to stretch my legs. The biggest problem though is that you will regret not buying the full fat 911 and settling for the gayman. Also that everybody else will block you at junctions and deliberately not letting you overtake - this is the BMW/Range Rover/Porch problem.

I disagree on the 911 front. It's only the 'top' model because Porsche say it is and give it the most powerful engines and other features. If they'd put as much effort/expense into a car with the engine in the correct place to start with, imagine what they could've achieved. They deliberately kept the LSD away from the Cayman for years because it was already a more naturally balanced driver's car and the LSD would've made it quicker, despite being down on power. So, apart from the back seats, it's actually a better car underneath.
The badge perception is an issue though, but I am trying to look past that.
Don't forget about the 981S though.. it's in your budget and, it's the fruity 3.4
probably best affordable Boxster out there, and good value. 987 is an old car with some old problems, unless you are MY09-12.
Unless you're upgrading, stay as you are IMO
Bloke over the road has a 911 Carrera whatever, quite new.
it's a turbo, 4wd, 350bhp and was big £ for that (my scraggy S2000 has more power ffs)
It looks a lot of car, enormous wheels etc but I cannot help but feel it's more GT, like the Aston. He also has a 993 I think, a classic, the new one is like it's bodybuilder dad.
This is what I mean.. it's not a sports car anymore
Evolved in a wind tunnel Jason
I think these manufacturers expect you to track them - actually there was one or two 911's at Oulton last time I was down there, a few months ago.
GT3 , and some other modern incarnation, blazing past everything.
Frightening bill if it goes pop there. Unlikely to, but..
I was considering squirting Nos in mine, just a 50 or 75 shot, as the internals will take it without mapping. just for shits n giggles, but it's probably not worth the hassle - 1k fitted.
That said - for sheer fun / speed / thrills, you can't beat a bike. Maybe keep the S2K another year and go and treat yourself to getting a bike license and do the enhanced course that gets you DAS and a big bike license in a week. You don't even have to get a bike at the end of it but as @Nottm_S2 will probably confirm, once you've twisted the throttle on the training 600CC knacker, nothing else will come close. Something with 2x or 3x the power is just a grin inducing heart attack and nothing from the car world will touch it even when you're spending 10x your budget.
Just to temper ^^^ with data - in skilled hands (not mine) the Z1000 has 140ish bhp and will crack 60 in 3 seconds and 100 in a shade over 6. Yet can be ridden and driven smoothly from 30ish mph in 6th gear all the way to flat out with nary a grumble from engine / power train. On the 30 mile commute and with a mix of sane and occasional idiot, it's averaging a shade over 50mpg. A twist of the throttle in 2nd or 3rd on a B road will see you past most things before a car has even managed to pull out. It NEVER fails to make me smile whilst riding it, in that regard it's very S2000esque.
Today, I'm taking the Del Sol because i want fresh air but also heated seats and it needs a run - its been sound deadened ( removed the entire interior and dynamatted it) and has a subwoofer so i can enjoy a topless Drum and Bass assisted drive. It's nice to have the choice.
Keep the S2000 and get a bike license (and bike) - that's my suggestion.

I couldn't really see the value of the extra £££ for a 981. It's bigger, doesn't look as good (in Cayman form at least), has the same engine as the later 987 and all the extras are stuff I don't really care about. Unless I've missed something?
