OK, updated with the Power to weight and torque to weight figures included.
A couple of observations - as expected power to weight is highly correlated to the 0-62 time (-0.96) and torque to weight is highly correlated to the 50-75 time (-0.93)
However, it's interesting to note that the 325d and the 335i have the same torque to weight ratio but the 335i is much faster in both variables than the 325d.
Also, the 330i has a much lower torque to weight ratio than the 320d, but is again faster in both variables.
It also shows how slow a 320i BMW is. Anyone buying a 318 must be out of their mind, 0-62 in 9.1 and 50-75 in 9.4. All starting at the bargain price of
One thing that really puzzles me is the 0-100 mph times of the majority of diesels.

Our 335d gets to 100 in <14secs (13.8 IIRC).
The 335i in 12.9 secs, but it has 20bhp more and is 40kg lighter.
I know the 335d is quick, name a car with twin turbos and 270bhp that is slow I think the first diesel to hit 100mph in under 20 seconds was the 330d. The cars I am talking about are the rep mobile TDIs, the Golfs and Mondeos.
One observation about diesels; why is it that whenever a VW Golf is sitting on your arse tail-gating you, it is black and always a TDI. Audi's are the same but the colour differs every now and then
