Precarious conditions
Be careful out there!
Turned down a bit of a short cut on the way home tonight in the beater (Accord estate).
Witness carnage!
Cars at odd angles across the road (a steep side street), hazard lights flashing etc.
I stopped just into the road which was like a skating rink. The car wouldn't hold on the handbrake a I just rested on the brake pedal.
There were a few teenagers about and one lad in his tracksuit waved at me to ask if all was ok. I wound the window down and he said he was surprised it hadn't been gritted.
He and his mates said there was a grit bin just up the road. They offered to grit around my car and I very gratefully accepted. They turned up with a big bucket of the stuff and I guided them to dump some grit behind the front wheels so I could reverse back up the short distance. They gritted behind all the wheels and put some on the tyres too. I made it up the hill.
Job done!
I was a little humbled really that they should take the time and offer to help out as I would have imagined most would stand at the side, point and have a good laugh at the predicament ahead.
I was really glad I didn't have to negotiate the route down the hill with cars parked either side.
