Default Rode in an F430...

I got to ride in a new F430 this weekend at the local autoX training session. I let the guy drive my S for a round and he then let me drive in (not drive - too much responsibility anyway) in it for a lap.

All I can say is THRUST. I've driven some powerful Evos and they have thrust, but more like "not there-then all there then weakening to read line". Rubbish. This was a smooth build up of never ending thrust. And the music coming from out back.

The guy said he thought the S actually had more precise steering than his car through the slalom. Interesting.

On my way home I was really worried because I thought I was low on oil and VTEC was not coming on. Sadly, this was not the case as VTEC was working fine.

Drove one belonging to a mate about 6 months ago - awesome, it was so fast it scared me putting my foot down hard!

Nothing worse than driving a really fast car then jumping in the S2000, remember viewing/driving a TVR Tamora, then driving the S2000 home. I knew the S had to go
Ultimate speed isn't everything to me

There's a Skyline I see that I'm sure is tweaked to feck and back

Looks much quicker than my M5, and that's saying something

So it's very rapid, and I'm sure the owner loves it

But I wouldn't be seen dead in it

Not without a bag over my head, anyway

Yeah but this a F430 w're talking about, hardly a car which requires a bag over your head to drive it!

I completely agree

Just making the point that there are lots of cars that make 'your' car feel slow

But that it doesn't necessarily have the same effect as it did for Sub

I disagree with Sub too:

After driving the likes of the TVR and the C4, it merely meant that I enjoyed driving the S2000 home properly. It really will take some serious stick and is great fun!

But like I say, any knut can go fast in a straight line, which is why it's so boring.

Still, I do quite like the idea of an F430 and a track. Few straight lines. I suppose.

Having driven Harsh's F360 at Donington (one can never thank him enough for the opportunity and trust) I very much enjoyed the experience, giggling like an 8-year old schoolboy.

However, I was more than happy to get back into my S2000, knowing that I can't afford to buy or to keep a Ferrari. I also enjoyed the fact that I could get the S2000 into 2nd gear, unlike the Ferrari.

Nearly every Motorbike makes nearly every car feel slow.

As such, if I wanted acceleration thrills, i'd get a bike:

Suzuki GSX-R 1000

0-140mph 9.7 seconds

Can a Veyron even match that?

There is SOOOOOOOOOOO much more than speed, IMHO, when driving a car.

I like the concentration I have to commit to driving a car towards it's limits.

I love the noise of the engine

I like feeling the movement of the car and it's response to my inputs.

The only thing I require power for really is overtaking.

IMHO, the S has enough to do this nicely

Each to their own

The S also hugs me inside a whole lot more than the F430 which feels like an SUV compared to the S.
