Default RWD is for losers

R26.R for the win.

Seriously. Evo weren't messing about ranking the R26.R in the top 5 drivers cars of all time. It's fun, it's fast, it's chuckable, has brilliant bucket seats and has shown a clean pair of heels to pretty much any kind of exotica you can mention.

Even a well driven GT3 can't leave it through the "twisties" of which the S2000 brethren are so fond of.

I'm not quite convinced enough to spend my own cash on buying what is at the end of the day a renault. But it's still so much better screwed together than even a Renaultsport Clio.

I'd rather drive a very well set up FWD or 4WD car than an average RWD one.

Things being equal, I'd always go RWD though.

Sorry but as amazing as the R26R is, its an EPIC FAIL from Renault. They've sold about 200 in the UK

Its kinda hard to compare a stripped out, caged, FWD track car to your average going road car. Imagine if Honda done an S2000 R, good couple of kg's off the weight, more power and a few suspension tweeks making it a bit harder. Would piss all over the surrender monkey's FWD Scrabble wagon...

I doubt they were expecting to sell many, it sounds like it's been a great success to me.

I think you may have missed the point, I don't think Chilled was directly comparing the Renault to the S2000.

I wouldn't assume that a tweaked RWD sports car would automatically be quicker than a tweaked shopping car either, way too many variables.

Shows there's really nothing in it most the time.

From what i've read, the R26.R is a pretty awesome piece of kit, and i'm fairly sure that it would be quicker through the 'twisties' than an S2000, mostly because to be quick in the S, you'd have to be fully committed and that wouldnt leave much room for error, especially an early S... FWD drive gives you a bit more safety

Here's a track day comparison. MBK, who posts here, is driving the Reno, and is better driver than me.

I have a feeling my next race car will be a tweaked FWD shopping car. It certainly doesn't worry me which end it drives from, as long as I can be competitive.

Some of the most fun I've had on track has been in FWD.
