At the risk of repeating what everyone else has said, I also have a work colleague who chopped in his RX8 (for a diesel merc) due to its terrible MPG.

Having said that, I have another work colleague who reckons the MPG isn't that bad. Unfortauntely he went on a three week holiday to Australia on the weekend and I can't interrogate him further.

Mind you, he's left me his house keys and I'm sure I could find his car keys somewhere in the house....

Oh, I'm a member of the RX8 forum as well (but I guess you knew that ). The reason being I was keeping an eye on the Axial Supercharger development on the RX8 as the S2000 was next in line....

It's the perfect cross between an MX-5 and an S2000! Superb to drive.

About the size of a Prelude, but more sports car than practical GT. That it weighs in so light shows you CAN build a decent modern coupe, it's just all the other lazy manufacturers choose to build shit coupes instead.

WGAF about fuel economy, when you can pick up a perfect example for under ten large? Even pays for the new engine when the first one wears out.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts... thanks guys.

I'm not bothered about mpg.... I never got more than 20 out of the S2000 and the same can be said for the 111r. Even the CRV is 27mpg at best.

A friend has an RX8 - bought new with 48 miles on the clock for c. £14,100 earlier this year. Fuel consumption is averaging about 22 mpg and he's used 8 litres of oil in 8,000 miles.

Quite a nice car if you can live with the fuel consumption and, IMHO, it handles as well, if not better, than the S.

I wouldn't have one myself though - it's a bit over-designed.; the rear fog light looks quite ridiculous as it's in the shape of the engine's rotor.

That's a spare, in case one in the engine melts.

You'll find another couple of spares in the headrests too. Which is nice.

if you're not bothered about mpg, buy an E39 M5 or E46 M3

both would slaughter the Mazda on any road and can be had for the same money
