Default Seat harnesses

I am after buying a pair (3 point).

Can anyone explain:

The differences between snap hooks and anchor plates (look the same in pictures)?

Ones with retractors - surely all can be rectracred and protracted?

And anything else I should look for.

Thanks

Snap hooks - you bolt an eyelet to the car and then have a carabina type hook on the belt to go into the eyelet.

Anchor plates - You have a solid loop on the belt which you put a bolt through and tighten into a nut on a plate welded to the car.

I've snap hooks as it means the belts can come out easier, but I still have the eyelets on my seat mounts and roll cage.

Also look at the buckle. Aviation "twist" type will not pass an MOT. The push button (like std cars) will. I've an aviation type, so for the MOT I need to keep my origional belts.

And retractors are what std belts have to auto tension the belt. Most harnesses I've seen are manual tighten.

EDIT - just googiling for a pic, and this link says a lot.

That always make me laugh, the aviation twist type are FIA approved, yet fail an MOT!

Fantastic - much appreciated Bibbs.

Think I'll go with the snap ones and a proper buckle then.

Probably to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Many people couldn't work out how to unbuckle them
