Do you have a workshop trick for catching the oil that comes out when you take off an old oil filter?

It always catches me out

The paper element ones tend to be upright and you dont spill any oil.
Apart from replacing a few 'O' rings its far easier and I dont know why
all manufacturers dont adopt this method.

The usual ones hanging down right over your drive shaft etc, well its
just a load of rags placed underneath. I suppose you could hold a
plastic bag under it as it spins off.
