I was reading about the m1 leases in a thread on piston heads. It seemed like the leases were pricey and the spec poor. I hope you faired better than some I read about.

I've got the same spec as before (which is just about everything), it's £80ish quid cheaper a month, GFV the same plus when you look at the figures it was near a 20% discount. Some very good deals because the M135i is about to be superceeded by the M140i. Which has a different engine and a couple more hp. But not available yet.

As with all new cars it's a timing thing. Sometimes there's good discounts, sometimes there isn't.

So are you able to spec up the one you are having? I am actually tempted by a lease on something due to these super cheap golf Rs that were knocking about a few weeks ago, but they all came with cloth interior. I don't do cloth.

That's what I thought. I can't work out if that is good.

The Golf one I saw did look very cheap and worth a punt but I missed out. It was less that 200 quid a month for a brand new R Estate. I think the total was 6k or possibly under (all in) for two years. That sort of cost does make some sense as dep on a new R would be much more than 6k over 2 years.

But, it was proper poverty spec and that was got me into procrastination mode.

We're all getting old!

That's probably ~£300 pcm in pre-hyperinflation money.

I was paying something like that in the early 1990s for my MX-5s, albeit with a much tinier balloon. Mind you, we had REAL interest rates in those days...

"Cooking" versions, as my old man used to call them.

You can be sure any debadged BMW or Merc is of cooking quality ...
