Here are the stats from Parkers website. I know you can prove anything with figures. I don't think the S would have too much problem with any of them.

S2000 CC - 1997 / 4 bhp - 240 top speed - 150 0-60 - 6.0

Astra VXR CC - 1998 / 4 bhp - 236 top speed - 152 0-60 - 6.2
Fiesta ST CC - 1999 / 4 bhp - 147 top speed - 129 0-60 - 7.9
Peug 307 CC - 1997 / 4 bhp - 180 top speed - 140 0-60 - 9.1
SE
Focus RS CC - 1989 / 4 bhp - 215 top speed - 144 0-60 - 6.2
BMW 3 CC - 2993 / 6 bhp - 201 top speed - 150 0-60 - 7.0
Cd M Sport

Sounds like they are taking the pi$$. Bear in mind ones a Porsche driver, and the others a BMW drivers, and you know what they can be like ::

Hi Guys,

I have arrived into work today and some how found myself talking aboutt he S2. Well one of the Porsche drivers kept on saying how S2's were not all that, and then the M5 driver on the desk decided to pie up and join him! Nice!!!

Along the conversation they stated such things such as the following cars would easily beat an S2000!

Astra VXR
Fiesta ST
Peugeot 307/407 CC
Focus RS ???? "This one I was really not sure about"
BMW 3 series

The list was longer, but these were the ones that I wasn't too sure about. Can anyone confirm if they think these are faster!!! I hope not!

Cheers guys, much appreciated.
I moved from a 3 Series to the S. On paper only the 330 and M3 are quicker and having had the 3 Series there is no way it would out corner the S, too long and too heavy.

As for the rest they're on a wind-up.

Wind up - smile and nod!

They probably think you have an MX5 by the sound of it!

You have nothing to prove - revel in their ignorance!

Just replied on the other thread, but sounds like a wind up to me

Anyhow, unless your doing some kind of racing, worrying about having a faster car than someone else is completely gay.

Focus RS has the same 0-100 time so I would say they are very close.

The E46 BMW 330 is not quite as fast as the S, 0-100 is in the 16's, not 14's. The new 330 with 256bhp would be very close. I have driven the 130i M Sport and it also has a 0-100 of 14 secs.

Fiesta and 307CC

The S2000 is way quicker than an M5: You don't have to drop the kids off at public school on every trip, there's extra weight from the Labrador in the boot, and the incessant whining from the wife
are all sure ways to see the tail pipes of an S.

If the porker is a 911 then fine, if not tell him he should have waited to buy a real porker, rather than rush in and buy a 911 lite edition.

Oh, and tell them both to stop reading Auto Express (while waiting to pick up the kids in the M5 driver's case).

And if that doesn't work, just set fire to them.

Which M5 are we talking about? I thought virtually any version of the M5 would be quicker?
