I really didn't like that car. Until now. Sounds awesome as well.

I wouldn't of thought it was real. Doesn't an F1 car have to get to above 100mph before it would theoretically stick to the roof? God knows what that car would have to get up to.

That's 100mph in a straight line, with no assistance from the centrifugal/centripetal forces that apply in the video above.

Pure downforce.

I cant see that the clip is a real event - surely they wouldnt have had the emergency crew stood in such a vulnerable position?

The driver has Steve McQueen's eyes.

Always loved the gull-wing doors on the original but I think they got criticism for making the vehicle more difficult to exit in the event of a crash.

I don't follow closely the fortunes of cars that are completely out of my league but would be interested to hear what the thinking is on the current incarnation re the doors?

I understand a few Lambo drivers have cooked after overturning the cars

probably a similar risk with the Merc

but if you're in a really bad crash, so much comes down to luck

a few weeks before the crash that utterly destroyed my car and left me unscathed (bar a shaving nick scalp wound from flying glass)

someone was killed in the same spot at about 40mph and the car was undamaged

his window was open about 4" and a branch went through the gap and his eye

he was otherwise untouched
