I'd end up driving the CRV when not on the bike I guess

It might make more sense tbh... Donna would use the ford most of the time I expect, so the less fuel efficient "Family Car" CRV would stay at home during the week, only get used at weekends and by me in the winter

I ran a Smart FourTwo for six months whilst awaiting delivery of my previous car and considered a FourTwo for daily use - that I needed more than two seats was one of the reasons against.
Getting over 50 mpg is easy, even whilst thrashing it daily on my 88 mile commute.
I would disagree with Neil on one major issue alas - A/C is must if the version has a glass roof. The Pulse I used had the glass roof and was killing in hot weather.
Side-winds are fun... but the biggest issue I had with the Smart was the dealers and the servicing costs. I paid
