Default Smash and grab

Hi there,

I havent posted for a while but I thought I should let you all know that our MY56 Red Ford Focus ST2 Five door was stolen from our home in Maidenhead in the early hours of this morning.

My wife and I were both tucked up in bed at the time. We heard a breaking window and I heard a car screech off and we hurried downstairs to find the kitchen floor covered in glass and concrete slab and the car gone! It was a real professional job by the sounds of it.

About a month ago we had an attempted break in. The crims were disturbed by a neighbour that night. It was exactly the same MO though so it could well have been the same people coming back to get the job finished.

Those who took the car threw a concrete paving slab through our kitchen window to gain access to the house. They found the keys to the car in the kitchen we think. It seems that they knew what they were doing. My wife was angry with herself for possibly leaving the keys in the kitchen. We have been very careful not to up until last night after what happened a month ago.

For the last 2 weeks we have been on holiday and we had left our cars with my Dad to be on the safe side. So the car has only been back at the house since Sunday.

The car is quite distinctive as it has a roof rack and cycle holders on the roof (sorry!). If anyone see's a car like this perhaps you could let me know. I am reticent to publish the reg number.

The police say that the car was spotted heading London bound on the M4. They think that it is quite likely that the car will be recovered.

Apologies for the non-S related thread.

I think it was a good thing they found the keys in the kitchen - you wouldn't want the monkeys going through your bedroom to find them

Not sure how professional they were..... why don't they just calmly drive off than draw attention to themselves. Good luck! If it was me I would be half hoping that you don't get it back

With more and more static ANPR's being mounted on motorways it will soon be dead easy for cops to track cars. Luckily you are both safe and there was no personal threats/injury. Can't have been a nice experience

Sorry to hear your news .... unfortunately this sort of theft is getting quite common at the moment for performance orientated cars; particularly in the Thames Valley & Surrey areas .....

I personally keep the keys away from the door or the kitchen. Whilst there are some horror stories about people being threatened I think the thieves in the main just want to get in, get the keys and get out quickly before you wake up.
