Some suggestions please
My employer lays on a free bus (at the moment) from a stop 5 minutes walk from my house to my place of work in Brighton, some 12 miles or so from where I live.
The downside is they will not give me a parking permit for work and as the only free parking anywhere near the site is in the middle of a rough estate I can't risk taking the SLK. even the paid for parking is crap.
Well today's trip finally convinced me that I have had enough of the hour long trip on a very uncomfortable bus even though I only do it 2 or 3 times a week and I am almost certainly going to get a beater.
It needs to be cheap to buy (around

sounds a familiar story - my old office was like that
get something tatty looking and slow with no alloys and not a vaux or ford as the scum know these are easy to nick and will do so anyway.
buy one of those big steering wheel locks or a decent alarm
something that says dull dull dull
pug 405 sized thing?
or get a Honda Fartblood and a bike licence..

My initial thoughts are a Ford KA, Daewoo Matiz, Fiat cinquecento or some such car.
, best to ask him whether it satisfies the role - think he is in Florida at the moment though
There are a lot of old Mazda 323fs on the road these days. We've got a P reg one and it does the job ok, dull as hell to drive but very reliable and cheap to run. The number of M - P regs still on the roads these days must mean that they are one of the most reliable cars around.

Don't be fooled by the A/C button, they all have that - whether it's fitted or not!
And watch for anti-roll bar links, we've had 4 on ours in 4 years.
Apart from that no problems, although it is leaking a few drops of oil on my drive at the moment. Must get that fixed.
