Because she needs to ferry her parents about. She needs 4 seats to get the old uns in and out.
I understand her position completely. I don`t like it but I understand it

*tip* - leave lots of room to the car in front unless you test your brakes every mile or so
The Elises were the latest brakers into the corners. They held off and pushed the peddle last in the corners.
Must be the weight that affords them the luxury.
Yep, they are fantastic under braking - that was one of the main things I noticed on my first test drive. Only reason I said leave lots of room was because of the great cooling they get from the intakes, they also get shitloads of water on them when it's pissing down.
In the dry you are the last of the late brakers, and often speed up where people normally put their foot on the brakes. But in the wet you really have to make sure the brakes are dry and up to temp.

Did they put proper brakes in the newer 111s? Until the 111R they had no servo assistance, which I found pretty terrifying on the ones I drove. Apparently you get used to it, but it's certainly a shock.
And by all accounts the best version of the crappy Rover engine (least bad perhaps that should be) was the 135bhp one. Not sure why that is.
I spent nearly a year lurking around the SELOC forum learning everything I could about Elises before deciding not to buy one.

In track conditions they are awesome, great power and feel a servoed setup will never attain.
The early cars had MMC brakes that were poor in the wet, and although later cars had AP brakes with cast iron discs the reputation for poor wet weather performance remains...
The 135 was rated as one of the best of the "higher" power engines as it was still quite driveable, whereas the likes of the 160 were rather peaky and not keen on chores like idling - not too mention the fact that the some owners weren't taken with the fact that many didn't make their claimed power. Quite a few returned to the factory to resolve these issues.
I had a 111s with the 144 bhp VVC engine and personally feel it suited the car well. However it doesn't suit modders as realistically you need to play with the camshafts to get big gains which on a VVC car means changing the head for a standard head...which makes no sense.

A 111s is gonna have the 160 bhp VVC rover engine in it.
Unlike a VTEC it's continously variable so you don't get a step, but a nice flat torque curve.

That was the case but not for about 8 months now. The 111S, IIRC, has the Corolla Toyota engine in it now.
Tell you what my S2 Elise never had any of this 'comfort' stuff in it.
Basic and light that was the idea. When someone came over to
look at it they were usualy shocked when they peered inside
