Default Speed Camera

I drove towards a normal yellow GATSO scamera (i.e. in the opposite direction to the way they work) and it flashed twice - nobody else around at all.

I know there are digital types which work in both directions but I thought these were different looking and down south.
I also think I remember hearing someone saying that they can flash the wrong way, but you never get a ticket.......

Anyone else come across this???

They will flash twice when you're speeding the wrong way but you wont get a ticket... unless it was actually a TRUVELO and then it was designed that way.

If it was a normal gatso you'll be fine. Where there any lines on the ground to help them calculate the distance travelled? If no, your definitely in the clear

Looking at the picture of the truvelo then it definitely was a gatso, there were lines on both sides of the road to calculate distance travelled though.
The weird thing was that more often than not Im sure I've gone through over the speed limit in the opposite direction but never been flashed...

Fingers crossed I guess!

A Gatso will flash traffic coming towards it when it has a dummy unit inside it .... if the unit is 'live' it only flashes the way it was made to cover i.e. taking a picture of the rear of the car / bike.

As has been mentioned - the white lines are normally only on the side of the road it is intended for.

the white lines are for a manual check to officially rate your speed. This allows a person to do you for speeding rather than a machine..

Just so you know

The machines can only assist the person nicking you for speeding. the machine cannot do it itself.

There is a spot near me with a Gatso on either side of the road, about 50 metres apart.

I used have great fun setting off the one facing my direction of travel

Got my first SP30 last night from a mobile jobbie. 47 in a 30, but they recorded it at 43 - how nice. They were 300yds away up the road, didnt know they could do that, oh well.
