It seems he turns in massively early and scrubbs off speed as the nose pushes wide, then as he's scrubbed off enough speed he then turns in for the apex?

Is this a four wheel drive thing or is he checking abvailable grip as he goes?

Sorry if that's a total noob question! but never seen that style of driving before

My view, he's not a track driver and maybe not familiar with the Ring?

Couple of mis shifts in there and some odd lines.

Enjoyed that, you can see he's a rally driver by trade

I never knew a saloon version of the current Impreza existed, quite like it actually

Trying to rotate the car, rally style is my guess.
My boss seems to drive like that, he's a rally boy too.

Isn't the saloon a Japanese only thing?

I am still pretty novice in the art of driving quick, and I don't exploit my scoob or go amazingly quick in it, but from watching that

* You see him flick the opposite direction to the corner before turning in sometimes, presumably to get the back end to flick around the corner, a bit like you do in karts sometimes so you don't have to lift off
* You see him use lift off oversteer to get the nose into corners
* He's obviously using parts of the track you wouldn't necessarily use in a normal car

I guess with the 4WD the aim is to get the power on as soon as you possibly can, which is earlier than in a normal car. The constant fighting with the wheel is just the car being on the edge of traction - I get into that sometimes on track it's fun

I agree iwth MB that he looks like he doesn't know the track 100% with the odd fluffed gear change etc. maybe that combined with a more ragged rally style, and a 4WD and different driving technique is why it looks strange to people used to seeing circuit drivers?

I always found i tinteresting watching the rally vs circuit boys at RoC - the different techniques are cool when watched side by side; ditch hooking from the rally boys (plus what you see on this vid), and typical circuit lines from the racers
