A Land Rover Defender 110 or 130... (along with the Landcruiser)... if you need a 4x4 you might as well get one that'll do the off road stuff properly.

The Range Rover has the reputation that you mention and the more modern ones are over complicated and more prone to electrical glitches... and when they go wrong they are not the cheapest to fix.
If you just need the load space get a van... much cheaper...

Can vouch for E53 3.0d sport X5. We have had one from new since 2006 and apart from a small oil leak, rear light electrical contact and an air suspension relay problem its been great.
We have an E70 m sport comming in a week or so and although a better car the e53 feels as though it would last longer due to the quality of the interior materials used. We will see.

A Chelsea Tractor on the Cheap??
I'd be buying it at the market price in the UK.. Dont think I'd be getting it cheap but if you know a way to get one cheap please let me know..
