Higher rates will soon be charged for cars emitting >225g carbon.

Those registered from March 2001 onwards.

Lets me out I think (October 2000).

As long as I lean it out a bit

Can't see me buying a post 2000 car at this rate.

I've been looking at early 70's 911's instead. Pre 72 and it's no tax (or performance) at all

That's exactly my next route..... classic Porsche as the weekend toy

I can't decide between a 'tweaked' speedster or a 911

Excellent fun - self maintained and you can happily wave 2 fingers at the tax man

This isn't stealth ?? (Well unless you can't understand a budget)

The budget speech clearly stated that cars registered after 01/03/01 would be liable to the new duty in the coming years.

The only part that isn't clear is what will happen to imported cars.

Some do not seem to have CO2 emissions on the V5 so it would appear that taxing them on emissions would be very difficult.

At the moment.

Watch this space for tax on pre 01/03/01 cars

Although the sweet F-series (if you like high-speed reverse-parking) 911s are lovely cars, there are many useful bits from the uglier G-models that are interchangeable. I suppose theoretically, you could build a 1972 930 turbo!

Actually, since I seem increasingly to depise modern design (I'll make an exception for the Acura GT5000!), think I'll stick to old crap as well.

shipley

So how much did you give the-artist-formerly-known-as-DarkBlueMark for the Mugen hardtop then I never caught sight of the FS thread

I guess it'll hold it's value and might even be worth more

As pre 01 plate S2000s become classic cars

With appropriate tax breaks

Simon: yes not strictly stealth unless everyone is expected to read all the fine print. Like IR35 (if that means anything to you)

Shame it was FG one.

I would have fancied some carbon offestting then.
