PS - IIRC the last major issue when fuel was contaminated by Silicone, was from either Harvest or Green Energy having contaminated fuel tanks. They recieve their fuel from one of the major refineries and do some of the additive adding for the supermarkets...

Could just as easily be due to the tanks running low and some 'old' crap getting mixed with the fuel when they put the new stuff in.

Fawley Refinery, which I think is the biggest in the UK is owned by Exxon Mobil, so pretty big player there!

And I believe Buncefield is owned by Texaco?

This isn't a refining issue though. If we are talking about issues with Tesco fuel quality, it will be an additive or storage issue.

I have no idea of the science behind fuel, but I do know, my S2 runs like a bag of shite on Tesco fuel. A couple of friends with performance cars have worse problems than me using it too. But it's been like that for months now. I didn't have any CEL on my S2, but when cold it was as if it was missing a little bit, not very smooth at all. I was driving a diesel car too, and that also showed signs of running rough. Changed to Esso and it seems better. I now avoid tesco for fuel.

Chad.

I have tried tesco fuel in mine and it runs great.

I agree with MB its a storage or additive issue.

Haroon...not sure about yours. The O2 sensor should still pick up problems with fuel, regardless of whether you've got a cat or not.
I think I've sorted my misfire issue. I opened up the plugs and there was a bit of oil seeped into the chamber. Thanks Chicwick Honda for being so cack handed when you serviced my car last month. I gave the plugs a quick clean and she's purring now.

I'll be avoiding Tesco fuel from now on

I agree with Chad ! I always use v power cos tesco 99 feels rougher .

I have also heard stories about Esso diesel being better than other diesel.
