I had one myself for ages and kept it for a track toy when I bought a new car, killed it on it's second outing though

Last time I was at Cadwell there was a father and son there who'd bought one for

I'm liking the MX5 idea, I've owned one before and know how capable they are if not the fastest.

But I also remember being on a track day at oulton and 2 lads one in a 106 rallye and one in a CRX both stripped with suspension literally embarassed virtually everything on track!

The MX5 and MR2 will handle and entertain out of the box, change pads and fluids and away you go.

The hatches tend to need a bit spending on them to handle well enough to beat a lot of things on track - though if you buy an ex-race or rally car most of the bits you need will come with it, either way you're going to blow your budget.

For really cheap trackday fun, MX5 and MR2 can't be beaten IMO.

Not sure i'd go fo rhte MX5, I went in a 1.6 around the Ring and felt like I should be putting my feet up and having a sandwich.

I reckon the MX5 over the MR2, it will be much more forgiving

I'm always surprised how much fun FWD cars are on track too though.

Even the 2CV.

Variety is the spice of life I guess. Once I get the space, I'm having both.

Yep, the 2CV was a revelation for me.

I really want that DC2 but I mustn't spend the money right now
