Track day...
My mates girlfriend has asked to find a suitable track day that she can book for his birthday in April. They have just come back from the states and arriving in January is their Shelby GT500 Mustang.
He has only driven it on the big wide (mainly!) dry roads of Houston, Texas so i guess it will take a bit of getting used to over here (yes, they are a fair size!). I dont think he has driven on a track before although he is fairly capable of driving, his last car before 2.1/2 years in the states was a 3.0i Z4 and they had a V8 Mustang as well before they bought the Shelby.
I was thinking somewhere like Donnington would be ideal (based in Sheffield so wont want to travel too far) for the Shelby to stretch its legs a bit. Not sure what they've like through the corners, i think Clarkson slated its old leaf spring suspension but it should be entertaining with all that power!
Any thoughts?

Elvington near York. Massive run off areas, sort rubber cones.
I once span off at over 80 in an older Elise into some cones and
apart from ten bob tyres there were no damage!

Elvington = tyre killer. budget for that and it's fine.
Donington quite good for beginners, mostly lots of run off
Oulton is NOT a good circuit for beginners.
Bedford is a good circuit for beginners.

I wouldn't do Donny for a 1st trackday in a car that doesn't go around corners.
Neither Oulton as it's too tight.
The M1?
Bedford is proably a good start-not too far from you.

)Bedford is a great circuit for beginners. Lot's of run off and very few places you can hit anything.
Both Donington and Oulton are too challenging for beginners in my opinion.
