of course, the other interesting thing was the prioritisation at work

the trafpol had a choice of people to pull:

a) the biffer who was incompetent at overtaking and probably frustrates dozens of drivers every day (but keeps within the speed limit - in this case 10mph on an empty road)
b) the person who just wanted to get on with it II'd followed for miles and didn't see anything other than a person who was going to make maximum progress, which was the main reason I saw no point in trying to pass the car myself)

category a) were out in force again at the weekend

So improved stopping distances simply reduce the frequence and zeverity of accidents at 70 or less.

I used to think that our motorway speed limits should be higher, however my opinion has changed.

Until we do something about the standard of driving in this country I don't see the point in increasing them.

Obviously everyone on s2ki is a driving god, so we'd all be fine, but there are plenty of others out there who are bad enough at "70 (ish)", so why increase it?

Unfortunately - with Dan.

As for the prioritisation; Police cannot convict anyone for "shit driving" so will always go for the person speeding.

Yes they can; due car & attention is even MORE their word against yours than is speeding.

Even if they act as agent provocateur.

One of the reasons I despise the speed limit religion is that it excuses moronic driving - so long as you stay below it.

And if I have to overtake one more twunt through a GATSO who thinks that they somehow magic points off, the greater the margin UNDER the limit you pass them, I'll get a bloody rocket launcher installed...

with nick. People paying more attention to their speedo's than the road in Gatso zones is also a huge danger!

I think this is the third time I've heard about this in the last year or so on the M23.
