Default UK Number plates

Does anyone else agree with me that UK number plates are properly ugly! It's something I have always been very strongly opinionated about and I can't find another country that enforces styling and colour in such a horrific fashion! I mean that yellow! uft it angers me.

Anyone have any legal alternatives that achieve a much nicer appearance? The classic style black and white plates would be awesome

(this is a bit biased as it is on an epic car but you understand my point?)

What are your opinions? What do you find the most attractive style?

Cheers
Earl

I don't mind the yellow or white it's the size and thickness of the letters that bug me

There are worse things in the world than UK numberplates. Just buy one you like, then it will annoy you less.

If you want black and silver plates buy a car pre 1973

Is ANPR that rubbish it can't read a black and silver numberplate? I don't believe that for a second as there will always be black and silver on classic cars

Never really bothered me enough to stop and think, but now you mention it there are much nicer colour combos and fonts out there. I don't think they'd ever change the colours though, even if you did get a petition with millions of sigs on it.

Personally I think with the scraping of tax discs its ever more important that the number plates are clearly legible , what ever the colour, I think there was some considerable research that went into choosing the colour scheme for these very reasons . So sorry classic owners but maybe you will have to suffer just a bit , you can always change em at a show

bet your bottom dollar most countries wouldn't even enter into any discussion , it would be here it is like it or lump it , or get nicked

if it was up to me i would stop all the silly personal plates to , its a dam official mark to distinguish your car from all others for very good reason so thats what it should be

Er erm , don't look at my front plate !!! , bloody hypocrite

I prefer the black and silver ones, look really nice, mind you there are some sh te looking yellow and white stuff around the moment (bad plastic) and the borders / supplier info crap they have to put on them makes me mad.

Hmmm, must get the 1969 GT6 out and give it a blast ..no ANPR read, would have though it would...

I can tell you the bloody speed cameras read the black and silver reg plates ! ooops..that was a bit of a giveaway.....

Despite the lies that the police put out about ANPR and keeping your numberplate stock so it can be read, ANPR can read pretty much any plate regardless of colour and font.

I know the dam car park cameras at Stansted Airport can read my front one ok, get stung every time I pick up my daughter , must make her walk further except the plods get excited if one so much as hints at slowing to a stop any where else around the edge of the airfield.
